The life cycle of a butterfly

Posted 20 June 2017

As part of the Year 5 curriculum, the children have recently covered the life cycles topic. They have followed the cycle of a Painted Lady butterfly in class from caterpillars to chrysalides to an Adult Painted Lady Butterfly in their Butterfly Garden in class.

Once the butterflies transformed into Adult Lady Butterflies the children went outside and set them free. This process in a physical way of showing children how insects develop over time and they changes they go through.

"We loved seeing them fly off when set free this morning. We look forward to repeating this fascinating cycle in class soon." - Mr Rogers

Take a look at all of the photographs of the butterfly transformation and the children setting them free! Photographs can be accessed from the homepage.
